HELP DEFRAY LEGAL EXPENSES! Ed Jew for Supervisor Information:415 982-2206 THANK YOU! City law doesn't allow Supervisors to set up "legal defense funds" per se; instead, it allows Supervisors to raise $100 per source for "post-election legal proceedings," in addition to the regular $500 in campaign funds. In other words, Supervisor Jew can ask everyone who made a $500 contribution to his campaign in 2007 for another $100; he can ask people who have not made a contribution for a total of $600. All of the contributions go into the regular campaign committee, so mark your check "Legal Defense Fund." Doug Comstock, Treasurer Contributions are not tax deductible. Ed Jew for Supervisor may accept contributions up to $500 (and $100 additional legal allowance) from individuals, PACs and non-incorporated business entities. Under new San Francisco rules, we may not accept contributions from corporations. Spouses and domestic partners may each contribute the maximum, even if their accounts are controlled by the same person, as long as they both sign the check, credit card authorization form, or accompanying letter. A business and its owner, partnerships with the same general partner, and other affiliated entities are subject to a single, combined limit of $500 (and $100 additional legal allowance). We may not deposit your check without your name, street address, occupation and employer, and may not accept cash, cashiers checks or money orders. We may not accept contributions which have been reimbursed by another person unless you inform us of the true source of the contribution. We may not accept contributions from foreign nationals, from persons who are negotiating City contracts seeking approval by the Board of Supervisors or who have received such a City contract within the last six months, or from their directors, officers or owners. |
